This week our little one asked for water and drank 4 ounces all by himself, by mouth, without any help! Usually he has little desire to drink by mouth and it takes a work, about 30-45 minutes, to help him get 5 ounces down. He even asked for water, drinking it on his own, after we had met his daily fluid intake requirement! Probably eating at Chick-Fil-A, thanks to our dear friend Melinda, had something to do with it…
An even greater miracle was given to us this week. I cried in gratitude because it was such a huge answer to prayer. Due to his unidentified diagnosis for short stature, his endocrinologist ordered blood work (to evaluate growth hormone and GH receptor levels) and a hand x-ray to see if his growth plate indicates delayed growth. This test had huge ramifications and we needed His miracle. If he showed to be 3 y.o. in his growth plate, and/or deficient in these blood levels, he would need daily injections of growth hormone that costs about $6,000/month. The last thing this mom wants to do is give injections to her baby who doesn’t understand why.
So the results came in on Monday. His blood work showed he had NORMAL levels and his growth plate looked more like a 2 year old, meaning he has delayed growth and more years to grow! These were the best results that we could have possibly wished for! No injections for this sweetie!! Some parents WANT the opposite results so that insurance has to pay for GH. I would rather the Lord do a miracle and grow our cutie, supernaturally! And this is what we were given!
Oh thank YOU, Lord! Waiting upon You and receiving such good news reminds me of this wonderful verse again.
Psalm 27:13-14
I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living!
Wait for the LORD;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the LORD!
